Innovative Marine Auqa Shield UV Sterilizers rely on foam pads to keep large free-floating debris from blocking the light emitted from the UV-C Lamp. Over time the sponges will become clogged with detritus and should be replaced regularly. The sponges can be cleaned, but over time they will start to degrade and replacement will be needed. We prefer to keep a few on hand to make cleaning and replacing the sponges quick and easy.
